Women learning basic life-skills
Empowerment of Women: This component of our health programs allows us to integrate our health programs with other programs aimed at women in order to draw and sustain their interest. It integrates women’ health education and training programs with vocational training programs. IHO felt the necessity of including vocational training programs in order to further empower the women and encourage them to assume leadership roles in their community. In a traditional society, training is an invaluable tool for the women to allow them additional sources of income and provided them with feelings of self-reliance. Empowerment also brings an anchor of strength, health and understanding into the household. Currently, Women’s empowerment programs provides vocational training focused upon fish-culture, bee-keeping, candle and soap making, and tailoring.
